Introducing Sorcha May and Luther The Bhear
It's Tuesday and it's a long way to go until the next weekend, so why not lift your mood by listening to some good indie tunes?
We have recently had a pleasure to meet two very talented young performers who are very active on the Scottish folk/pop music scene: Sorcha May and Luther The Bhear.
Sorcha May is a Paisley based singer-songwriter, whose sweet soprano vocals teamed with delicate acoustic guitar are bound to take your breath away. Even though she is only 19, she has already achieved much in her artistic career, as she performed all over Scotland (including sharing the stage with the X-Factor winner Joe McElderry) and won the Scottish final of "Next Brit Thing". She also has a "Hit The Road" tour under her belt, which saw her perform in Dumfries, Kirkaldy and at the Glaswegian Oran Mor.
Sorcha May has steadily gained a vast fan base through her cover songs posted on YouTube. She is now a fully-fledged singer-songwriter with amazing original tracks like "Little Bird", "Miss Independent" or "Love Hate".
Luther The Bhear is an Ayrshire-born artist whose acoustic shows can now be enjoyed in venues all over Glasgow. He describes his music as "angry Scottish folk-pop/rock" which is rather dark and mysterious. He cites, amongst others, Sebadoh, King Creosote and Bob Dylan as his influences.
His soft voice goes incredibly well with edgy acoustic arrangements and melancholic lyrics. This is exemplified in his songs "Devil In Mind" or "Fall Down", for example.
Signed to the ACRE Records he is due to release his debut album "I'll Play Johnny If You Play June" any time soon, so make sure you keep your eyes peeled to his Facebook page for announcements. In the meantime, listen to his songs on Soundcloud.
